The 7th and 8th grade class has been studying and reading the book, Gallaudet friend of the Deaf, by Eta Degering. In honor of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet (December 10, 1787), an American deaf educator, the following poem was written:
Dead are my ears from all this trying
Empty are the mouths when they open
Alone am I in all this silence,
Free from all this screaming and fighting
